Yet again all the focus in budget debate is about who wins and who loses.
This time pensioners are presented as the "losers" not long, of course, after they have been presented as the generation who wrecked the economy for their children and grandchildren (see my post of 5 March on "The ghost of Christmas past").
Britain has a serious public sector debt problem. Can we really afford the luxury of conducting our economic debate at this level rather than about whether or not the overall plan to restore the sustainability of our public finances is credible and successful?
